Oh, Nothing, Just the Danish PM Putting Another Sexist Asshole in His Place
After a male plastic surgeon told her how he could “fix” her face, Mette Frederiksen replied, “I’m happy with my body — I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it!”

Welcome back to another installment of Why Would a Man Say That?, a return hallmarked by the unnamed plastic surgeon who gave Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen some unsolicited advice for “fixing” her face. Clearly, no one’s learned the lesson: If you don’t have anything nice to say, just… be a better fucking person?????
It’s not the first time Frederiksen has had to squash the words of a misogynist bug. During a meeting with world leaders and U.S. politicians earlier this year, the Danish PM was on the receiving end of a jingoist, “F-bomb”-laden tantrum by Sen. Lindsey Graham (RIP)—who was upset that he couldn’t just unilaterally annex Greenland, a Danish territory; to which she (basically) replied, “You done?”
On this occasion, Frederiksen said the comments were one of the first she received after she had just returned home from a trip to war-torn Ukraine. She shared it to Instagram, obscuring the man’s username and (I assume) some personal details.
What he said:
The message (translated from Danish to English): “Hey Mette, shouldn’t we fix your little spot on your nose?”

Why Would He Say That?
Why the fuck, indeed! His message is followed with a smiley and “MVH,” which Google tells me stands for “med venlig hilsen,” or “kind regards,” so he probably thought he was being nice. A redacted part of the message—which I assume contains his personal details—is followed with “plastic surgeon.” Yikes.
The screenshot shows her replying: “Oh no. I’m happy with my body — I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it!” Damn straight.
“The last thing I heard as we left Kyiv yesterday was the air siren,” Frederiksen wrote on Instagram. “One of the first messages I got when I was back in Denmark was this one. Come on.”
“I’ve lost count of how many messages I’ve received over the years about my appearance,” she continued. “Especially that I have ugly teeth and thin hair. That I have an ugly ‘wart’ on my nose and well-meaning advice to get some Botox.” She added, “I’m perfectly fine with my body – as it is when you’re a woman approaching 50.” Again—damn straight!
“If you’re going to write to me (and you’re more than welcome to), I hope you’ll use your time to talk about something more meaningful. Not my nose.”
