On Thursday night, the Google searches for “Margaret Qualley Feet” surged across the globe as the actress walked the red carpet for the London premiere of her movie, The Dog Stars. Based on the post-apocalyptic novel by Peter Heller, the film co-stars Jacob Elordi and marks the actress’s first return to the carpet without her soon-to-be ex-husband Jack Antonoff. And at the premiere, Qualley flaunted the ultimate divorce accessory: the Chanel Barefoot Sandals. (But Elordi on your arm is a close second.)
Qualley is the first celebrity (that we know of) to brave the controversial shoes… the controversy being whether they fit the legal definition of a shoe…

The “barely there heels” consist of only a block heel and two ankle straps and are featured in the Chanel Cruise 2027 collection. (Shrinkflation hit the luxury houses hard) She paired the “shoes” with a black manicure and a whimsical black Chanel dress, and sorry! But I love it. You may see it as ridiculous, but I see the toes of a free woman—the toes of a woman unburdened by marriage and the threatening implications of Wiki Feet.
In July, Qualley confirmed her separation from Antonoff after three years of marriage. When possible cheating rumors ran rampant, sources reiterated to People that there was no infidelity involved in their split. The two simply had “different personalities.”
“Margaret has a light, very positive energy. She’s warm, upbeat, and always tries to see the best in people,” the source said. “Jack tends to be more serious. They just look at life differently. Their personalities weren’t the best match in the long run.” The sandals are more proof of Qualley’s “light, positive energy,” and now she is finally free to wear the foolish footwear of her wildest dreams, without his “serious” presence coming in to ruin the fun and warn her of the dangers of walking barefoot through the streets of London. Don’t you see?
If you don’t like it, then I don’t know what to tell you. I guess you never frolicked barefoot through an enchanted forest as a child, because that is exactly the vibe I get from this look. The people that get it, get it.
