Ariana Grande Is Suing Two Unnamed Hackers for Leaking Her Photos and Songs

Ariana Grande is suing her hackers…as soon as she can figure out their names. In a new complaint filed Monday, Grande filed suit against two defendants—both identified as John Doe—for allegedly hacking “personal digital accounts of photographers and producers” who worked with her, resulting in “unlawful and egregious theft, dissemination, and exploitation of unreleased content.” To put that in layman’s terms: they stole a bunch of her unreleased shit and sold it on the dark web for cash. Rude.

According to the complaint, “In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms. Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked by Defendants.” The complaint goes on to say that Grande has been the victim of these types of hacks since 2011, with the most recent taking place in 2025, when hackers allegedly got into the mobile device of a producer who collaborated with Grande and accessed unreleased masters, demos, and footage from recording sessions. Prior to that, hackers created an email account impersonating a photographer in order to persuade a digital technician to send them unreleased photos that belonged to Grande. And we all know how celebs get about their untouched photos.

Ever the Good Witch, Grande did give her hackers ample warning that legal action might be coming. During a 2024 appearance on the Zach Sang Show (the one where we heard her talk extensively in Glinda voice for the first time), the singer hinted at forthcoming legal action. “Before I left for Wicked, the few studio sessions that I did [went] all over TikTok. Thank you so much, I’ll see you in jail. Literally.” Specifically, Grande was discussing a new track called “Fantasize,” written with Max Martin, that was leaked online before they could be officially released. 

“The thing is, those were all written for TV show, for something that was not for me, so ‘Fantasize’ comes out—it was crazy! It was stolen! Thieves! Pirates! Crooks! Illegal! I’ll pay you more to put it away or get it back.” 

Unfortunately, the hackers did not heed her words. So now they can hear from her legal team. (Once they figure out who the hackers actually are.) 

The suit was filed in California and alleges invasion of privacy, violation of California’s computer hacking laws, and conversion, saying the hackers violated “the sacred relationship that exists between [Grande] and her fans.” This comes as Grande is embarking on her first world tour in seven years, and just ahead of the release of her eighth studio album, Petal, which is set to come out this Friday. 

According to a source in People, the lawsuit isn’t just intended to unmask the faceless hackers, but also “to serve as a deterrent against future acts of this nature—not only targeting Ariana, but also the many artists who have faced similar invasions of their privacy and theft of their creative work. Artists deserve the right to control how and when their art is shared with the world. The unlawful theft and distribution of creative work undermines that right and should not be tolerated.”

So I guess you could say this lawsuit isn’t just for Grande…its For Good.
