Boo-Worthy Chris Cuomo is Apparently Getting the Woo Treatment from Bari Weiss

It almost took a full year, but everyone who foretold Bari Weiss wanting to revive the dead and disgraced career of former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo have seen their premonitions come to pass. According to a new report by status.news titled “Bari’s Cuomo Crush,” Weiss has been texting and talking with Cuomo because she’s “enraptured” by him, saying also he’s a “skilled broadcaster” she’d like to bring to Team CBS. Good! For! Them!
The news follows months after status.news also reported in March that CBS’ ratings were tanking, with MAGA-lite Tony Dokoupil’s Evening News bringing CBS viewership to below 4-mil. lows. (Maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t a great idea telling ICE protesters that took to the streets after Renee Nicole Good’s death that they needed to “keep things decent.”) And, well, how else would you fix low viewership except to bring on an anchor that resigned from his former post for memorably vile reasons?
Cuomo was fired from CNN in December 2021, after it was discovered he was helping his older brother—former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.)—navigate a sexual harassment scandal. (About a month earlier, he was also accused by a former colleague of sexual harassment, though he’s repeatedly denied the allegation.) Since then, he’s busied himself on NewsNation with a nightly show called Cuomo, and hosting a weekday morning show called Cuomo Mornings on SiriusXM. In December 2024, he also shared publicly he was signing on a multi-year contract with NewsNation, saying, “Of course I am staying.” So… we’ll see how that pans out.
Oh yeah, add a Cuomo, that’ll make it not shit

But middle-aged men with questionable ethics really cut the mustard at Weiss’ CBS, a place that’s also seen the exodus of the likes of Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Scott Pelley,—either because they left or were pushed out. Pelley, in particular, was fired by executive producer Nick Bilton after reports emerged of him saying Weiss was “murdering” the program. (Throughout reports of “editorial interference,” however, Weiss has continually maintained that she’s just doing her job.) All because the Trump-friendly billionaire, David Ellison, can’t stop drooling over buying networks and ruining their credibility.
In January, Weiss said she wanted CBS News to “look honestly at ourselves.” Which, if she did, would she see? The network’s only getting uglier.
