Tom Holland Doesn’t Know the Lyrics to Zendaya’s ‘Replay’

“You think you know someone, you know?” Zendaya said of her (secret) husband.

Tom Holland Doesn’t Know the Lyrics to Zendaya’s ‘Replay’

The newlyweds/perennial it-couple, Tom Holland and Zendaya, have undertaken two press tours together this summer, both for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and along the way, we learned that they got (secretly) married, that Zendaya is still the reigning champion of method dressing, and that Holland is NOT the #1 Zendaya fan we all suspected him to be.

While doing some press for Pedestrian TV for the upcoming Spider-Man, Zendaya, Holland, and costar Jacob Batalon were asked who could finish the lyrics to “one of the most iconic songs of all time”—the interviewers’ words, and mine. The lyrics proclaim: “Don’t stop, don’t move, just keep it there, keep it right there.” If you’re well-versed in Zendaya, you’d recognize this as her 2013 magnum opus “Replay,” but sadly, Holland did not.

“I have no idea,” Holland responded. Wowwww. So much for him being a great (secret) husband.

“That’s my song, guys,” Zendaya confessed. Heartbreaking. Clandestine marriage = over. “Yeah, that’s ‘Replay.’ So, thanks, guys. You know, you think you know someone, you know? And that’s alright. It’s okay.”

The fear in Holland’s media-trained body is palpable. “That was the wrong reaction,” he said with his head in his hands.

“I’m going to hold that one over your head for a long time,” Zendaya added. Rightfully.

“That was a great question,” Holland joked, “You just got your clip right there.” Sorry if you missed this chapter of Zendaya class, but her 2010s SWAG-era is very much required reading.

Holland was still familiar with the iconic Disney brand-safe choreo, so we’ll chalk this up to a memory lapse. But perhaps even more tragically, this confirms my worst suspicion: Zendaya is not blasting her SWAG-era music through the halls of her and Holland’s home. This is the real tragedy.

While the couple is still keeping details of their engagement and wedding private, they’re starting to loosen up a tad. During Holland’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, he casually referred to Zendaya as “my wife,” which, of course, prompted the audience to erupt in applause, but would they still be clapping if they knew what I knew? That Holland doesn’t have every lyric of his wife’s short-lived music career, memorized and/or tattooed on his body?

Anyways, stream “Replay” if you want to start your day by getting hit by a freight train of sonic mastery.
